Walgreens-Starbucks Plan is Approved by NHT Commissioners
By David Whipkey
September 20, 2007

Motorists using Route 30 through North Huntingdon Township soon will see construction of two nationally known stores along the busy thoroughfare.

By a unanimous vote Wednesday evening, the township's board of commissioners approved the site plan for a Walgreens pharmacy and a Starbucks coffee shop, which will be built on the current site of Chesterfield's restaurant.

Walnut Capital Partners Principal Developer Anthony Dolan said he was fine with the township's proposed conditions of approval.

Some of the conditions of approval include allowing the township planning commission to review final architectural renderings, providing a location for a community bulletin electronic sign on the site near the intersection of Route 30 and Lincoln Way, providing electricity and landscaping around the sign, and providing and maintaining Dumpster enclosures to the satisfaction of the township planning and zoning boards. The enclosures are to be built with masonry construction, a brick veneer, and weather-resistant gates.

Dolan's group has an agreement in place to purchase the restaurant from owner Barbara Braun. Chesterfield's is slated to close later this fall with demolition to follow.
