Peduto voices strong support for amended zoning ordinance for Oakland Crossing
"Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto defended his administration's zoning ordinance to make way for the more than 17-acre Oakland Crossing plan and pushed back forcefully against criticism of the zoning change process by the neighborhood's registered community organization, Oakland Planning & Development Corp.
Asked about the subject at a recent media event in Lawrenceville, Peduto singled out the stretch of central and south Oakland subject to the Oakland Crossing zoning ordinance change as the only section of the university neighborhood yet to see new investment.
"This is a transformational project," he said of the proposal by Walnut Capital Partners to build a collection of mixed-use residential buildings along with a grocery store and other amenities along McKee Place and Halket Street as well as along and across the Boulevard of the Allies"
