Penn Hills artist unveils 2-story, 3D and Western Pa.-themed recycled art piece at Bakery Square

Text Block 1

Jenna Boyles, an artist from Penn Hills, unveiled her newest work "Pittsburgh Highlights" on the exterior of City Kitchen at Bakery Square. Made entirely from repurposed materials like cans, plywood, and acrylic, the two-story, three-dimensional collage is the fifth installation in the Bakery Square Public Art Program. Inspired by her work with local schools and her passion for sustainability, Boyles aimed to create a zero-waste piece that reflects the beauty of Pittsburgh’s landscape through light, texture, and negative space.

Originally from Fayette County, Boyles has long been drawn to the natural and urban scenery of Western Pennsylvania. After earning degrees in painting and art technology, she returned home during the pandemic and now teaches at Carnegie Mellon University. Her work continues to merge artistry with environmental consciousness, celebrating the unexpected beauty in discarded materials.
